Broadcast channels have great content, but that does not automatically translate into digital audiences. As Digital Media Manager at Green TV BD, my job was to build the channel’s online presence from nothing — and turn it into a revenue stream.
Starting from zero
There was no Facebook page and no YouTube channel. I created both, set them up with consistent branding and optimised every channel element — names, descriptions, playlists and metadata — so the platforms understood what the content was about and who it was for.
Research before production
Instead of uploading everything and hoping, I studied which content types and formats earned the most views on Facebook. That research shaped a video content strategy and a steady pipeline of ideas built around what audiences were already watching.
SEO for video
On YouTube, discovery is search. Titles, descriptions, tags and thumbnails were written around real search behaviour, which expanded organic reach without relying on paid promotion.
The numbers
Within the first three months, combined monthly revenue grew 2.2×:
- Month 1: $718
- Month 2: $1,130
- Month 3: $1,587
Facebook grew from $688 to $1,086 to $1,460, while YouTube grew from $30 to $44 to $127 — and both kept growing month over month.
Content quality matters, but distribution strategy decides who actually sees it.
Takeaways for any media brand
- Research what your audience already watches before you produce
- Treat every platform as a search engine and optimise for it
- Build a repeatable idea pipeline instead of chasing one-off viral hits
- Track revenue per platform and double down on what grows
